Tanjong Pagar House Cleaning - SureClean
Tanjong Pagar Neighbourhood Overview
Located in the Central Business District of Singapore is a historic area named Tanjong Pagar. The area’s name translates to ‘cape of stakes’ in Malay, reflecting its beginnings as a fishing village located on a former promontory. It has been speculated that it got inspiration for its name from the offshore stakewall fishing traps called ‘kelong’ that used to be set up and would stretch along the coast of the village og Tanjong Malang- to what is now named Tanjong Pagar.
Some notable points of interest in modern Tanjong Pagar is Tras Street that thrives as a night spot with various KTV bars, pubs, and clubs. Duxton Hill used to be a site for a nutmeg plantation owned by Dr. J. William Montgomerie, that is now being conserved by the Urban Redevelopment Authority- restoring two and three-storey shop and terrace houses that have been in the area for decades. Many of these shophouses have been converted into numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars, attracting both tourists and locals to Tanjong Pagar.
