Tiong Bahru House Cleaning - SureClean
Tiong Bahru Neighborhood Overview
Tiong Bahru, notable for its trendy cafes and indie boutiques situated pre-war architecture, is a housing estate located within the Bukit Merah Planning area in the Central Region of Singapore. The land was initially constructed in the 1920s by the predecessor of the Housing Development Board (HDB), Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT), an entity of the British colonial authority that provided mass public housing in the country.
The streets of Tiong Bahru pay tribute to many Chinese pioneers of the 19th till the early 20th century. Examples of these are: Peng Nguan Street, named after Lim Peng Nguan, an early settler and father of the community leader Lim Nee Soon; and a street named after a well-known rubber plantation merchant and philanthropist, Tan Chay Yan, with Chay Yan Street named after him.
In modern times, the area is now a hotspot for tourists and even locals who enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of Tiong Bahru.
