What is an hourly house cleaning service in Singapore?
With an hourly house cleaning service, you pay for time, not for a fixed job. You book a set number of hours. The cleaner comes with their own equipment and works through the list of tasks you agreed on until the hours run out. This kind of service suits homes that need regular upkeep. It is not meant for a one-off rescue of a flat that has got out of hand.
Weekly or fortnightly is the usual booking here. Singapore’s humidity means dust, soap scum and bathroom mould come back fast. A regular visit keeps them under control far better than one big clean every now and then.
Spring cleaning and move-out cleaning are one-off jobs. They’re priced per home and go deeper. Hourly sessions are different, and they take over the chores that usually eat up your weekend: mopping floors, scrubbing bathrooms, wiping kitchen surfaces, washing dishes, doing the laundry and ironing, and changing the bedsheets. At Sureclean, this is our weekly home cleaning service. The work is done by our own trained crews, not freelancers booked through a marketplace.
How much does hourly house cleaning cost in Singapore?
Sureclean’s weekly and fortnightly housekeeping is priced from as low as $22/hour*. Book a 3-hour session and you pay from $72*. Most sessions last 3 to 5 hours. GST is not included in any of these prices.
- Weekly vs fortnightly: both use the same hourly rate. Choosing fortnightly just means fewer visits on your bill.
- Longer commitments: customers who commit for longer get lower hourly rates.
- First visit: first-time customers get a 10% discount.
- What’s included: laundry, ironing, washing the dishes and changing the bedsheets all come with the session. None of them cost extra.
Hourly sessions are a slow way to tackle a home that needs a proper reset. Start with a one-off job instead. Spring cleaning starts from $600* (most jobs $700–$800*), and move-in or move-out cleaning starts from $370* (most jobs $475–$525*). Each one is priced per home. That’s because the work involved is more than an hourly cleaner can get through in a few hours. You can see every service on our full cleaning prices page.
What is the minimum booking, and how many hours does your home need?
Most sessions start at 3 hours and run 3 to 5 hours in total. Anything shorter rarely leaves room to finish the bathrooms and floors properly once the cleaner has set up. The right length depends on three things: how big your home is, how many people live there, and how much laundry and ironing you want done.
- 2-room and 3-room HDB: Plan on 3 hours. That’s usually enough to do the floors, bathrooms and kitchen, plus one load of laundry.
- 4-room and 5-room HDB or BTO: Plan on 3 hours for regular upkeep. Adding ironing, or have young children at home? Book 4 hours instead.
- Condo apartments: roughly the same as an HDB flat with the same room count, but the extra bathrooms and balconies take longer.
- Landed homes: usually 4 to 5 hours, because of stairs, more bathrooms and larger floor areas.
Unsure how long you need? Start with 4 hours for the first visit. Once the home stays at a steady standard, drop to 3. Homes with pets, a lot of cooking or a big pile of ironing usually need longer bookings.
What gets done in a 3-hour vs a 4-hour session?
No two homes are quite alike. Still, for a lived-in HDB flat or condo cleaned once a week, this is roughly how the time usually breaks down.
A 3-hour session usually covers:
- Dusting shelves, furniture and other surfaces within reach
- Vacuuming and mopping all floors
- Cleaning toilets, sinks, showers and mirrors
- Kitchen counters, stove top and sink wiped down, with the dishes washed.
- One load of laundry and changing bedsheets
- Emptying bins
A 4-hour session also leaves time for:
- A full basket of ironing
- Scrubbing bathroom grout and wall tiles where mould builds up
- Wiping cabinet fronts, doors, switches and window grilles
- Tidying a balcony or service yard
- Rotating weekly extras, like the inside of the fridge or the ceiling fan blades
At the start of the session, let your cleaner know what matters most to you. If time gets tight, the must-dos you both agreed on get done first, and anything left over is carried to your next visit. No session covers exterior or high-rise windows.
How do you prepare for your first hourly cleaning session?
Before the first visit, go through the checklist below. Ten minutes of preparation means the hours you pay for are spent cleaning, not hunting for the mop.
- Write a priority list. Busy week ahead? Decide which rooms and tasks count most, and put them at the top so the essentials still get done.
- Clear the clutter. Put away toys, papers and valuables. Cleaners can tidy, but decluttering uses up time you are paying for.
- Tell us about delicate surfaces. Some finishes, such as marble counters and timber floors, may call for specific products.
- Leave laundry instructions. Tell us which pieces must be hand-washed, which must only be line-dried, and which should not be ironed.
- Arrange access. Decide who will open the door for the cleaner. If your condo requires visitors to be registered, give their details to security beforehand.
- Shut your pets in one room first. Our crew can then clean the floors from start to finish without stopping.
- Once the crew leaves, take a look. Go room by room, then revise next week’s list.
Give it two or three sessions. By then, most homes have a steady routine, and the checklist seldom needs changing.
Is it legal to hire a part-time cleaner or helper by the hour?
Paying a cleaner by the hour is perfectly legal if the cleaner works for a proper company or is otherwise allowed to work in Singapore. Informal arrangements are where the trouble starts. Under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, you commit an offence if you hire a foreigner who has no valid work pass. That could be a tourist, an overstayer or a domestic helper employed by another household. The employer can be fined $5,000 to $30,000, jailed for up to 12 months, or both. They can also be barred from hiring foreign workers.
It’s also against the law to pay a neighbour’s helper to clean on weekends or part-time. A migrant domestic worker can work only for her own employer, and only at the address stated on her Work Permit. If she takes on outside jobs, her employer can be fined up to $10,000 and banned from hiring helpers. The helper could lose her Work Permit. She can also be sent home and barred from working in Singapore.
Both sources come from the Ministry of Manpower: MOM, Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, and MOM, employment rules for migrant domestic workers.
When should you book a professional weekly cleaner?
Some households in Singapore are better off booking by the hour. Maybe your weekends keep disappearing into chores. Maybe the flat gets messy faster than you can keep up. These are the usual reasons:
- Both adults work long hours and there is no live-in helper
- Small children, ageing parents or pets at home? Expect more laundry and floors that need cleaning more often.
- Damp air and weak ventilation bring bathroom mould back within days.
- You want ironing and bedsheet changes done without managing a helper
Sureclean’s weekly home cleaning uses its own trained crews, not freelancers. The company has operated since 2013, is NEA-licensed (NEA240120/6509C/C3/N01), carries S$1,000,000 public liability insurance, publishes its prices and has a 4.9-star Google rating across 1,500+ reviews. If you are not satisfied with an area, we return to re-clean it.
Start the home off with a proper deep clean, through a spring clean or a one-time clean, and move on to weekly sessions after that. If you’re moving house, book move-in cleaning first.
Hourly cleaning vs one-time cleaning prices in Singapore
For regular upkeep, book an hourly session. One-time services are different: each is priced per home and covers the deeper, more thorough work. Every price shown is before GST.
| Service | How it is priced | Starting price | Typical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly / fortnightly home cleaning | Per hour, 3–5 hour sessions | As low as $22/hour* | From $72* per 3-hour session |
| Spring / deep cleaning (one-time) | Per home | From $600* | $700–$800* |
| Move-in / move-out cleaning | Per home | From $370* | $475–$525* |
| Post-renovation cleaning | Per home | From $350* | 4-room HDB $525* |
When you do not need a professional
A paid cleaner may not be worth it for every household. If your flat is small, you live alone or with a partner, and you can manage a short tidy-up on a few weeknights, you can probably cope on your own. Simple tools help a lot. A decent mop, a squeegee for the shower and a fan or dehumidifier in the bathroom will keep Singapore’s humidity in check. Maybe there’s just one job you can’t face, like the mattress or the curtains. In that case, book that service by itself and skip the regular sessions.

Frequently asked questions
How much is an hourly house cleaning service in Singapore?
Housekeeping with Sureclean, weekly or fortnightly, starts from just $22/hour*, before GST. A 3-hour session starts from $72*. Most sessions last 3 to 5 hours. The hourly rate is the same whether you book weekly or fortnightly. Commit for longer and the rate goes down. New customers also get 10% off their very first session.
What is the minimum number of hours I can book?
Most sessions begin at 3 hours, from $72*, and can stretch to 5 hours. For routine upkeep in a 2-room to 5-room HDB flat, three hours generally covers it. Bigger condos and landed homes need more time. So do households with a large pile of ironing. These usually book 4 to 5 hours, charged at the same rate of as low as $22/hour*.
Are ironing and laundry included in an hourly session?
Yes, all four are included. A Sureclean weekly session covers ironing, laundry, washing dishes and changing bedsheets, all within the hours you book, at as low as $22/hour*. Specialist work is booked separately. Mattress cleaning, for example, starts from $105* for a single. We don’t do exterior or high-rise window cleaning.
Should I choose weekly or fortnightly cleaning?
Go weekly if you have children or pets, or if mould keeps coming back in the bathroom during humid months. Fortnightly is enough for couples and smaller flats that stay neat between visits. The hourly rate doesn’t change between the two, at as low as $22/hour*. Pick by how fast your home gets messy, not by price.
Is hourly cleaning enough for a home that has not been cleaned in months?
In most cases, no. A 3-hour or 4-hour session simply isn’t long enough to clear months of built-up grime, mould and dust. The better route is a one-time spring clean first, from $600* (most jobs fall between $700–$800*), to bring the whole flat back to a clean baseline. Once that’s done, weekly visits from $72* for 3 hours hold it there, and each session needs far less work.
