What does a decluttering service in Singapore actually do?
Need to tackle clutter? Our decluttering service provides the extra manpower and a structured approach. Get your home sorted in just a day or two, not scattered over multiple weekends. Our team assists you in evaluating your belongings, deciding what to keep, packing what’s leaving, arranging its disposal, and then neatly organising what remains.
Clutter piles up predictably in Singapore homes. That HDB household shelter often becomes a dumping ground. Condo wardrobes strain at the seams. Kitchen cabinets overflow with forgotten appliances. Even the spare room, meant for guests, ends up hoarding renovation cast-offs.
Humidity amplifies the mess. Cardboard boxes and clothes, untouched for months, can develop mould and a musty odour.
At Sureclean, our decluttering service is handled by our own trained housekeepers. You call all the shots regarding your possessions. Our team sorts, moves, packs, and organises everything based on your choices. Cleaning is an optional extra.
How does the decluttering method work, step by step?
Our cleaning method is a structured, time-limited approach. Founder Alvin Tan developed it himself, drawing inspiration from Marie Kondo’s popular decluttering ideas, though it’s not the official KonMari Method. This is a hands-on, five-step process designed to fit neatly into a single day or a two-day weekend.
- Sort: We clear one type of item at a time. Think clothes, books, papers, kitchen things, or keepsakes. This way, you can see all your belongings from that single category all together.
- **Sorting Your Belongings:** Decide what to keep, donate, sell, or discard. Our team will keep each category separate and clearly labelled.
- Pack: Items leaving the premises are carefully bagged and boxed. We also tag anything requiring special attention, like e-waste.
- We’ve arranged for licensed third-party collectors to remove disposal items during your booked slot. They’ll work under our supervision.
- **Reset:** We’ll return your belongings to wardrobes, cabinets, and shelves. Everything gets a designated spot, sorted by category.
We fix a time slot for each cleaning task, ensuring your project wraps up as planned.
How much do decluttering services cost in Singapore?
Decluttering services at Sureclean are priced per day, factoring in crew size and the duration of the job. These rates cover labour solely and exclude GST.
- HDB 2–3 room: 2 crew × 1 day, $900*–$1,200*
- HDB 4–5 room or small condo: 3 crew × 1 day, $1,350*–$1,800*
- 3–4 bedroom condo: 3 crew × 2 days, $2,700*–$3,600*
- Landed home: 4 crew × 2 days, $3,600*–$4,800*
The final quote for your home cleaning depends on a few things. We’ll look at how much decluttering is needed, how many different types of items we’re dealing with, and if things are spread out across multiple rooms. Once we have photos or have had a quick chat, we’ll send you the confirmed price in writing. This way, you know the exact labour cost before our team begins work.
Prices quoted do not include disposal fees, lorry hire, e-waste charges, or donation arrangements. We will provide a separate estimate once we have a clear idea of the volume of items to be removed. Refer to our cleaning price guide for standard cleaning costs.
What is included in a decluttering project, and what is not?
This is what our day-package price includes, and what it excludes.
Included:
- We help you sort your belongings. We’ll keep items, donate unwanted ones, and dispose of rubbish.
- Packing and bagging items that are leaving
- Booking and supervising removal through licensed third-party collectors
- We’ll return your belongings to wardrobes, cabinets, and storage, arranging them thoughtfully.
- A written quote agreed before the work starts
Not included:
- You can add extra cleaning services. We offer these at our standard rates.
- We handle disposal fees, lorry transport, e-waste charges, and donation arrangements. These services are priced individually.
- Selling items on your behalf
- Legal or probate advice
- Hazardous waste and medical or biohazard clean-up
- Work above 3 metres
- Hoarding cases at ICD Level III and above
Clear details upfront prevent unexpected charges, particularly for move-out cleans or when finishing up in a BTO or HDB flat, where time is often tight.
How is disposal of unwanted items handled?
We engage licensed third-party collectors for waste disposal; Sureclean doesn’t operate its own lorries or manage waste collection directly. We oversee the handover process at your residence. Our team sorts and bags your items, schedules the collection slot, and ensures the correct items are removed.
Disposal costs are separate from our cleaning packages. This is because the amount of rubbish can differ significantly from one HDB flat to another, or from one condo to the next. For instance, getting rid of two bags of old clothes is a simple task. However, clearing out a whole bomb shelter, which might contain an old fridge, a broken TV, and a bed frame, requires a lorry and special e-waste handling. After you tell us what needs to go, we’ll provide a separate disposal fee. This way, you know precisely what you’re paying for each service.
Need to clear out items for donation? We pack and label them just for you. Arranging a charity pickup, or dropping them off, costs extra. Want to sell a few things? We’ll keep them together, ready for your listing.
Can you add cleaning after decluttering?
Decluttering can reveal dust lurking behind wardrobes, stubborn stains on shelves, and years of grime in untouched cabinets. Please note, cleaning is not included in our decluttering service. If you wish for cleaning to be done alongside decluttering, our Sureclean cleaners will carry it out as a separate task. The rate for this will be our standard card price (excluding GST).
- Spring cleaning (one-time deep clean): From $600*, most jobs are $700–$800*. Find out more at professional spring cleaning.
- **Move-in / move-out cleaning:** Prices start at $370*. Most house cleans fall between $475 and $525*. For details, visit sureclean.com.sg/move-in-move-out-cleaning/.
- Post-renovation cleaning: from $350*. See post-renovation cleaning.
- Mattress cleaning: single from $105*.
- Curtain steam cleaning: $35* per panel on site.
Clients often schedule cleaning after decluttering. This way, surfaces are clear, and our team can access all areas easily.
Who is a decluttering service suited to?
When a big life event looms or a deadline’s set, tackling a cluttered home feels most worthwhile.
- Moving out or ending a tenancy: Before the movers arrive, decide what’s coming with you to your new place.
- **Downsizing Your Home:** When you move from a landed property or a spacious condo to a smaller flat, you’ll need to let go of furniture and storage items you no longer have space for.
- New baby arriving? Your study or spare room becomes the nursery. We’ll find a new place for its current contents.
- Renovation prep: Your contractor needs clear rooms. Clearing them first means you won’t pay to store items destined for the rubbish chute.
- Moving into your BTO or new HDB flat: Thinking about what furniture to bring *before* the movers arrive stops your new home from feeling cramped with excess stuff right away.
- **Year-end and festive clear-outs:** Getting your home ready for Chinese New Year or the new school term? Many families want a fresh start.
For busy households, the storeroom often remains a lingering chore, with free weekends proving elusive.
When should you call a professional, and how is your privacy protected?
When a cleaning job stretches beyond a weekend, or you’ve got a firm deadline like a property handover or the start of renovations, it’s time to call in the pros. Heavier tasks across multiple rooms also warrant professional help. At Sureclean, all our cleaning teams are our own staff. We’re NEA-licensed for cleaning services and carry S$1,000,000 in public liability insurance. Our clients agree: we’ve earned a 4.9-star average on Google from over 1,500 reviews.
**Privacy:** When we tidy up, we might come across your mail, bank statements, copies of your NRIC, or even family photos. We’ll handle these sensitive items with care, following PDPA guidelines. Everything we set aside will be clearly marked for your review, and we won’t discard anything without your explicit permission.
Estate clearance: For clearing a deceased relative’s home, we require documentation proving the executor’s authority. This typically means presenting a grant of probate or letters of administration. Please note, Sureclean does not offer legal or probate advice.
**Referring You Elsewhere:** For severe hoarding, particularly at ICD Level III or worse, specialist support is necessary. Please get in touch with HDB, NEAT, or IMH. We do not handle hazardous waste or biohazard clean-up.

When you do not need a professional
Sorting a single wardrobe, a bookshelf, or just one kitchen cabinet? You can likely handle that yourself in an afternoon. Tackle one category at a time, use three bags for your ‘keep’, ‘donate’, and ‘dispose’ piles, and aim to finish it all in one go. A professional team is worth engaging when the task spans multiple rooms, includes heavy furniture, has a tight deadline, or keeps getting postponed. For lighter jobs, a free weekend and a few boxes will suffice.
