Key takeaways

  • Interior window cleaning covers the inside glass, frames, sliding tracks and grilles that you can reach while staying fully inside the home.

  • Never lean out or stand on furniture next to an open window. Sureclean does not do exterior or high-rise window cleaning.
  • Sureclean’s weekly home cleaning costs as little as $22/hour*, and sessions usually last 3 to 5 hours.

Short answer: Interior window cleaning in Singapore covers the inside glass, frames, sliding tracks and grilles that you can reach without leaning out. Wipe the tracks every month and the glass every few weeks, because humidity and dust build up fast. Never stand on furniture next to an open window. Sureclean does not clean exterior or high-rise glass. Our weekly home cleaning costs as little as $22/hour*, and when you book you can add the windows and grilles you can reach to the task list.

What does interior window cleaning cover in Singapore?

Most people who search for window cleaning in Singapore want the inside of their home cleaned: the glass, frames, sliding tracks and grilles they can reach from the room. Interior window work is part of normal home upkeep. It fits easily into a weekly home cleaning session, along with dusting and mopping. Once you count the kitchen, bathrooms and service yard, most HDB flats and condos have more of it than people expect.

  • Inside glass on casement, sliding and louvre windows, plus balcony and service-yard doors.
  • Frames and sills, where dust settles and black mould grows on the rubber seals.
  • Sliding tracks, which trap grit, insects and rainwater.
  • Window grilles, and the cables of invisible grilles, on the room side.
  • Mosquito nets and fixed screens, wiped or vacuumed where they are.

It does not include the outer side of glass that you can only reach by leaning out, or any work on the outside of the building. Sureclean does not offer exterior or high-rise window cleaning, and we advise households not to try it themselves.

How often should you clean windows and grilles in Singapore?

Singapore’s humidity turns settled dust into a sticky film. Tracks stay damp after every storm, and that moisture lets mould grow on the seals. Construction dust from nearby BTO and MRT works, traffic soot on lower floors, cooking oil in kitchens and haze all add to the dirt. A light routine works better than one big scrub a year.

  • Weekly: wipe the sills and the glass on windows you open every day, such as kitchen and service-yard windows.
  • Every two to four weeks: wash the inside glass in living areas and bedrooms, and dust the grilles.
  • Monthly: vacuum and wipe the sliding tracks, clear the drainage holes and check the seals for mould.
  • Every three to six months: wash the grilles bar by bar, clean the mosquito nets and wipe invisible grille cables.
  • After renovation works or haze: clean every window inside the home.

Low floors near busy roads, units next to active construction and households that cook often should clean at the shorter end of each range. Windows that stay shut all day still need a track check every month, because condensation collects there.

How do you clean HDB and condo windows safely?

Safety matters more than a perfect shine. The biggest risk is leaning out or standing on furniture to reach the outer glass. Only clean what you can reach with both feet on the floor and your whole body inside the room.

  • Never lean out or put your head and shoulders past the window frame.
  • Do not stand on stools, chairs or ladders next to an open window.
  • Keep children and pets away while the windows are open, and close them when you finish.
  • Check casement windows first. Loose hinges, rusted rivets or a stiff stay mean the window needs repair before cleaning.
  • Keep the ledge clear. Bottles, cloths or tools that fall from height are dangerous and can count as killer litter.
  • Take care with magnetic two-sided cleaners. If the outer half comes off, it falls.

The Building and Construction Authority and HDB remind owners to check their windows regularly and to use stainless steel rivets on casement windows. If a window feels loose, get it repaired before anyone cleans it.

How do you clean interior glass, tracks and grilles step by step?

Work from top to bottom, and do the dry steps before the wet ones, so loose dirt falls onto areas you have not cleaned yet.

  • 1. Vacuum the tracks. Use a crevice nozzle to lift out grit, insects and leaves before you add any water.
  • 2. Loosen the dirt in the tracks. Scrub with an old toothbrush, then wipe with a damp cloth wrapped around a flat stick. Clear the drainage holes.
  • 3. Clean the seals and corners. Wipe black spots with a mild cleaner, rinse, and dry fully so the mould does not come back quickly.
  • 4. Dust the grilles. Run a dry microfibre cloth along each bar, then wipe with a damp cloth and a little dish soap. Dry painted grilles to limit rust.
  • 5. Wash the glass. Use warm water with a few drops of dish soap and a squeegee in overlapping strokes. Wipe the blade after each stroke.
  • 6. Finish. Buff the edges with a dry microfibre cloth, wipe the sill and frame, and vacuum the floor below.

Do not use rough scrubbing pads on tinted or coated glass, and test any new cleaner on a corner first.

How much does interior window cleaning cost in Singapore?

In Singapore, interior window and grille cleaning is rarely sold as its own household service. It is usually part of a wider home clean, so the cost depends on which service you book and how much of the session the windows take.

Sureclean does not publish a separate window cleaning price. The most flexible option is hourly weekly or fortnightly home cleaning, which costs as little as $22/hour*. Sessions usually last 3 to 5 hours, from $72* for a 3-hour session. Weekly and fortnightly visits have the same hourly rate, and longer commitments get lower rates.

For a one-off clean of the whole home, spring cleaning starts from $600* and move-in or move-out cleaning starts from $370*. The table below lists these services, plus post-renovation cleaning. All prices are before GST, and first-time customers get a 10% discount.

When you ask for a quote, tell us which windows and grilles you want cleaned, so we agree the scope and time before the crew arrives. Full details are on our cleaning prices in Singapore page.

When should you call a professional for window and grille cleaning?

A few windows are easy to clean yourself. Getting help makes sense when:

  • There are many windows and grilles, as in a 5-room flat, an executive maisonette or a landed home with several floors.
  • Tracks and seals stay mouldy however often you wipe them.
  • Renovation or nearby works have left dust across the home.
  • You are moving and need the home ready by a fixed date.
  • Elderly family members should not be bending and reaching at windows.

For regular upkeep, Sureclean’s weekly home cleaning uses our own trained crews, not agency or marketplace cleaners, and our cleaners bring their own equipment. Add the glass, tracks and grilles you can reach from inside to the task list. The crew can then work through them over several visits, so windows never take up a whole session. For a one-off clean, spring cleaning or move-in and move-out cleaning may suit you better. We are NEA-licensed, carry S$1,000,000 public liability insurance, and have cleaned 50,000+ homes since 2013.

What about exterior and high-rise windows?

Sureclean does not clean exterior or high-rise windows. Our crews do not lean out, climb onto ledges or work outside the unit. Cleaning outer glass at height needs access equipment and safety systems. That is specialist work on the outside of the building, not home cleaning.

  • Condominiums: the management corporation (MCST) usually arranges external glass and facade cleaning through its managing agent. Ask them when it is scheduled.
  • HDB flats: only clean the outer side of the glass if you can reach it with your body fully inside the flat. If you cannot, leave it.
  • Landed homes: leave upper-floor external glass to a facade cleaning specialist with the right equipment.

If you can only reach the outside of a window by leaning out, accept that it will not be cleaned by hand. Clean inside glass, clear tracks and dust-free grilles still make a visible difference to the light and air in your home.

What do related Sureclean cleaning services cost?

In a small flat with only a few windows, a microfibre cloth, a squeegee and a few minutes on the tracks each month are usually enough. Grilles that you dust every few weeks rarely need a professional. If the only dirty glass is on the outside and you cannot reach it safely, no cleaner should be sent to do it. Leave it to your MCST or a facade cleaning specialist, or let the rain take care of it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sureclean clean exterior or high-rise windows?

No. Sureclean does not clean exterior or high-rise windows, and our crews do not lean out or work outside the unit. We clean the inside glass, frames, tracks and grilles that can be reached from inside. For regular upkeep, weekly home cleaning costs as little as $22/hour*, before GST. In condos, the MCST usually arranges facade cleaning.

Can window grilles be cleaned during weekly home cleaning?

Yes, if you add them to the task list. Weekly home cleaning is charged by the hour, so the crew can work through the grilles, tracks and inside glass they can reach over several visits. Sessions usually last 3 to 5 hours, from $72* for a 3-hour session, at as little as $22/hour*. Tell us your priorities when you book.

How do I remove black mould from window tracks?

Vacuum out loose grit first. Then scrub the track and rubber seals with a mild cleaner and an old toothbrush, rinse, and dry them completely. In Singapore’s humidity, mould comes back quickly if tracks stay damp, so wipe them every month. To clean the whole home in one go, spring cleaning starts from $600*, and most jobs cost $700*–$800*.

Is it safe to clean HDB windows myself?

Yes, as long as you stay inside. Only clean what you can reach with both feet on the floor, never stand on a stool next to an open window, keep the ledge clear, and check casement rivets and hinges first. If many windows are hard to reach, weekly home cleaning from $22/hour* lets a trained crew clean the inside windows for you.

Should windows be cleaned before moving into a new flat?

Yes. During handover and renovation, dust collects in the tracks, sills and grilles of new and resale flats, so clean them before the furniture and curtains go in. Move-in and move-out cleaning starts from $370*, and most jobs cost $475*–$525*. Post-renovation cleaning starts from $350*. Confirm which windows and grilles you want cleaned when you ask for a quote.
