Washer Dryer Combo Cleaning Singapore
2-in-1 units — why they need cleaning more often, not less
Last updated: 12 August 2026 · By the Sureclean cleaning team
Key takeaways
- 2-in-1 units run wash and dry cycles through the same drum, so lint and detergent residue combine.
- Combos typically need cleaning more often than a separate washer, not less.
- From $288, 2–3 hours on site.
Washer-dryer combos (2-in-1 units) are popular in Singapore condos and smaller flats where there is only room for one appliance. They are convenient, and they accumulate residue faster than a standalone washing machine for a specific reason.

Why 2-in-1 units build up faster
A combo does both jobs in the same drum. That means lint shed during the drying cycle lands on surfaces still coated with detergent residue from the wash cycle. Wet detergent film plus dry lint makes a compacted deposit that is considerably more stubborn than either alone.
Combos also usually have a condenser system for the drying function, which collects its own lint and moisture and is another place residue accumulates.
The practical consequence: if you have a 2-in-1, plan on cleaning it at least as often as a separate washer, and ideally more.
What a combo clean covers
- Inner and outer drum, both faces
- Door gasket, in and under the fold
- Drain pump filter and housing
- Condenser lint filter and accessible condenser surfaces
- Detergent dispenser and channels
- Sanitising and a full test cycle on both wash and dry
Our 4-step on-site method
Every job below is carried out by our own crew as part of Sureclean’s washing machine cleaning service, on site at your home in Singapore. The method is the same whichever machine type you have — only the time on site changes.
1. Dismantle on site
The outer casing comes off and the inner drum is lifted out — in your bathroom or service yard. Nothing is taken away to a workshop.
2. High-pressure deep clean
The hidden outer surface of the drum, the housing, filter, rubber gasket and detergent dispenser are washed down with a high-pressure jet. This is the surface a wash cycle can never reach.
3. Sanitise
The full drum assembly is treated with sanitiser, then rinsed.
4. Reassemble and test-run
The machine is rebuilt and put through a full test cycle before our crew leaves, so you see it working.
What we actually find inside Singapore machines
On a typical three-to-five year old HDB machine that has never been opened, the outer drum surface carries a grey-black film of detergent scum mixed with mould. It is not visible from the door — you only see it once the drum is lifted out. In humid Singapore flats where the machine sits in an enclosed service yard or bathroom, this builds faster than in drier climates because the drum rarely dries out fully between washes.
Front loaders additionally trap residue in the rubber door gasket fold, which is where most musty smells originate. Top loaders tend to collect scum on the outer drum wall and under the pulsator plate.

When you do not need us
If your machine is under a year old, has no smell and leaves no marks on clothing, a monthly hot maintenance wash with a proper machine cleaner is genuinely enough. Deep cleaning is worth paying for when the smell keeps returning after cleaning cycles, when black flecks appear on laundry, or when the machine has never been opened up. We would rather tell you that than sell you a job you do not need.

Frequently asked questions
Do washer dryer combos need cleaning more often?
Yes. Because wash and dry cycles run through the same drum, lint from drying settles onto detergent residue from washing, creating a compacted deposit. Combos generally need cleaning at least as often as a standalone washer.
Do you clean the condenser on a combo unit?
Yes, the condenser lint filter and accessible condenser surfaces are included, as they collect lint and moisture and contribute to odour.
How long does a combo clean take?
Two to three hours, and we test-run both the wash and dry functions before leaving.
