What is a housekeeping service, and how is it different from a one-off clean?
Housekeeping is cleaning that comes back. Instead of booking one big clean and watching the house slide back over the following six weeks, the same trained cleaner returns on a fixed day at a fixed time and holds the home at a steady level. Nothing ever gets a chance to build up, so no single session has to be heroic.
At Sureclean, a housekeeping arrangement usually means a 3-hour or 4-hour session, weekly or fortnightly, with the same cleaner assigned to your slot. She is our own trained, vetted, insured staff member — not a freelancer and not a marketplace worker. Over a few weeks she stops needing instructions: she knows the cupboard where the mop lives, which floor mark is old paint and not dirt, which room the baby naps in at 2pm.
That is the real difference between housekeeping and a one-off deep clean. A one-off clean is a reset — you buy back a level of cleanliness you lost. Housekeeping is maintenance — you stop losing it in the first place. Most homes benefit from both: a reset once or twice a year, maintenance in between.
People search for this under many names — part-time maid, regular cleaner, weekly helper, housekeeper. Practically they describe the same thing, and our general weekly home cleaning service is the same service under a more literal name.
One clarification worth making up front: Sureclean is a cleaning company, and the cleaner who comes to you is our own employee. We do not place, transfer or arrange migrant domestic workers. A live-in helper is a completely different arrangement, and the rules governing it are set by the Ministry of Manpower — check MOM directly if that is what you are considering. What matters on this page is simpler: who exactly turns up, what she is expected to do in the hours you are paying for, and what it actually costs you per month.
What a Sureclean cleaner actually does — task by task
This is the honest, chore-by-chore list for a housekeeping session. Anything marked Every session is part of the standard service at no extra charge — you do not pay a surcharge for ironing, laundry or dishes the way many booking platforms do.
| Task | Included? |
|---|---|
| Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping all floors | ✓ Every session |
| Dusting surfaces, shelves, skirting and furniture | ✓ Every session |
| Washing toilets & bathrooms — bowl, sink, shower, mirrors, floor | ✓ Every session |
| Kitchen — countertops, hob, sink and appliance exteriors | ✓ Every session |
| Washing dishes | ✓ Every session |
| Laundry — wash, hang or tumble, and fold | ✓ Every session |
| Ironing | ✓ Every session |
| Changing bedsheets and making the beds | ✓ Every session |
| Emptying bins and replacing liners | ✓ Every session |
| Wiping interior windows, grilles and tracks | ✓ Within safe reach |
| Cleaning ceiling fan blades | ✓ Within safe reach |
| Aircon servicing or chemical wash | ✗ Not part of a housekeeping session |
| Mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet deep cleaning | ✗ Separate specialist services |
| Exterior window facade or any work needing a harness | ✗ Not offered — safety |
| Cooking, childcare, elderly care or pet care | ✗ Not offered — we are a cleaning company |
How much realistically fits in one session
A cleaner works to your priority list. Tell them what matters most on the day and that gets done first — these are the realistic scopes we see across thousands of Singapore homes:
| Session length | Typical home | What comfortably fits |
|---|---|---|
| 3 hours | 2–3 room HDB or 1-bedroom condo | Full floors, both bathrooms, kitchen, dusting, bins — plus one of laundry, ironing or a bedsheet change |
| 4 hours | 4–5 room HDB or 2–3 bedroom condo | Everything above plus laundry and ironing and bedsheets, with time for fans, windows or inside the fridge |
| 5–6 hours | Landed home or larger household | The full list without rushing, including a big ironing pile or several loads of laundry |
Rule of thumb: ironing is the task that eats the most time. A week of shirts for two working adults is roughly 45–60 minutes on its own. If ironing matters most to you, book 4 hours rather than 3 — not because we upsell, but because 3 hours of floors, bathrooms and a full ironing pile genuinely does not fit.
What it costs
| Booking type | Rate |
|---|---|
| Recurring — weekly or fortnightly | from $22/hour*, minimum 3 hours |
| One-off / ad-hoc session | from $114* for 3 hours, $140* for 4 hours |
Weekly and fortnightly are charged at the same hourly rate. Choose based on how quickly your home actually gets dirty, not on price. Recurring is genuinely cheaper per hour than a one-off booking, because we are not scheduling a new team and a new brief every time.
No platform fee, no booking surcharge, and no ironing or laundry surcharge — the hourly rate is the rate.
What does a housekeeping session actually include?
Every session covers the same core, because these are the surfaces that get dirty fastest in a Singapore home: all floors swept and mopped, bathrooms scrubbed (toilet, sink, shower screen, mirror, tiles within reach), kitchen counters, stovetop, sink and appliance exteriors, dusting and wiping of furniture, window sills and skirting, and rubbish out with fresh bin liners. That core is the non-negotiable spine of the visit.
On top of the core, you choose the add-ons that matter to you: a laundry cycle loaded, hung or folded; ironing; bed linen changed; the fridge interior wiped down; the microwave wiped out; balcony swept. These are included in housekeeping — but they consume time from the same session, which is why the honest conversation is always about hours, not about a list.
A useful rule of thumb: 3 hours comfortably holds a tidy 3-room or 4-room HDB flat or a compact condo. Four hours is realistic once you add a third bathroom, a family with young children, pets, daily home cooking, or a full ironing basket. If you ask for the core plus laundry plus an hour of ironing in a 3-hour slot, something gets rushed — we will say so before you book rather than after.
What is not included, so there are no surprises: cooking, childcare, elderly care, pet handling, moving heavy furniture, exterior window ledges or anything requiring work outside the window line, and chemical-grade restoration like stripping and re-sealing floors. Deep specialist work — mattresses, sofas, curtains, carpets, whole-home disinfection — is a separate job, covered further down this page.
Housekeeping vs deep cleaning vs spring cleaning — what is the real difference?
Housekeeping maintains what you touch and see daily: floors, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, dust on horizontal surfaces, bins, laundry. It works on the assumption that the home was already at a reasonable baseline when the session started. It is measured in hours.
A deep clean goes after everything maintenance deliberately skips: grout scrubbed rather than mopped, inside the oven and microwave, behind and under appliances, window tracks and grilles, tops of wardrobes and cabinets, degreasing of kitchen walls and hood, light fittings, switch plates, door frames. It is measured in scope, takes a crew rather than a person, and is a one-off. Homes with a regular housekeeper typically need one about once a year instead of every few months.
A spring clean is a deep clean done at whole-home scale, usually before Chinese New Year or a big family event, and it includes decluttering-adjacent work like emptying and wiping out cabinet interiors. Our professional spring cleaning starts from $600*, with most homes landing between $700 and $800*. That is a different price universe from an $88* weekly session because it is a different job — a team, a long visit, and a scope that touches everything at once.
Two more job types get confused with all three. Post-renovation cleaning (from $370*, most homes $475-$580*) removes construction dust, cement haze, paint specks and adhesive residue — it is dust remediation, not cleaning. Move-in/move-out cleaning (from $370*, most $475-$525*) cleans an empty unit including all cabinet interiors, which is only possible when nothing is in the way. Neither can be squeezed into a housekeeping session, and if you ask us to try, we will tell you it does not fit rather than take the booking and disappoint you.
What does a housekeeping schedule look like across a month?
The first session is always the longest-feeling one, because your cleaner is establishing a baseline and learning the home at the same time. Many customers book a slightly longer first visit for exactly this reason. From the second session onward, the rhythm settles.
On a weekly schedule, a typical month looks like this. Every week: floors, bathrooms, kitchen, dusting, bins, plus your chosen laundry or bed change. Week 1 adds the fridge interior wipe-down. Week 2 adds interior window glass within safe reach and cabinet fronts. Week 3 adds the balcony and skirting in detail. Week 4 adds wardrobe exteriors, door frames and behind-the-door corners. Nothing in the home goes more than a month without attention, and no single session has to run long.
On a fortnightly schedule, you get two sessions a month, so the rotation stretches across a quarter rather than a month, and each session carries a heavier dust load on arrival. Be realistic about it: fortnightly is genuinely enough for a two-person condo where nobody cooks much, and genuinely not enough for a landed home with a dog and two children. The schedule should match how fast your home actually gets dirty.
You are not locked into the rhythm you start with. Customers routinely move from fortnightly to weekly when a baby arrives, or from weekly to fortnightly when the kids leave for university. Changing frequency does not change your hourly rate and carries no penalty — you simply tell us and we adjust the slot.

How much does housekeeping cost in Singapore?
Our housekeeping rates start from $22 per hour*. To be precise rather than promotional: $22 is the floor, not the average. Nothing goes below it, and it is not the figure we would tell you to budget on. Our median hourly rate is $23, and it has been drifting toward $24 through the year as scopes grow. Read $22 as “from”, the way you would read it on any price list.
In session terms, which is how customers actually experience it: a weekly 3-hour session is about $72*, a weekly 4-hour session about $88*, a fortnightly 3-hour session about $66*, and a fortnightly 4-hour session $88-$92*. The most common recurring session on our books is $88*, and the median recurring session is $78*.
A one-off or first-trial session sits in a higher tier: $114* for 3 hours or $140* for 4 hours. This is not a penalty — a standalone visit carries its own scheduling, travel and briefing cost that a recurring slot spreads across many visits. It does mean something useful when you are comparing options: recurring housekeeping is genuinely cheaper per hour than booking one-off sessions repeatedly.
Now the number that actually hits your bank account. A weekly customer pays roughly $286-$400 a month* — typically about $312* at 3 hours a week, or about $381* at 4 hours. A fortnightly customer pays roughly $143-$200 a month*. Budget against those figures rather than the hourly rate, because the hourly rate always looks smaller than the standing order that follows it.
Every price on this page carries an asterisk for one reason: final pricing depends on home size, condition, number of bathrooms and what you want covered. We quote before we start, in writing, over WhatsApp — no site visit needed for a standard flat or condo. If you want the full cross-service picture, our cleaning prices in Singapore page lists every service side by side.
Should you book weekly or fortnightly?
This is the question we get asked most, so here is the plain answer: weekly and fortnightly customers pay the same hourly rate at Sureclean. Booking more often does not earn you a discount. There is no loyalty tier, no frequency rebate, no cheaper-per-hour reward for committing. A 3-hour weekly session and a 3-hour fortnightly session are priced off the same hourly figure.
Which makes the decision refreshingly simple. Choose frequency based on how fast your home gets dirty, not on price. Doubling frequency doubles your monthly spend and roughly doubles the cleaning your home receives — that is the whole trade, and there is no clever way around it.
Weekly makes sense if you have pets that shed, toddlers, a household that cooks daily, allergies or asthma in the family, a landed home with stairs and multiple bathrooms, or simply a low tolerance for a bathroom that is one week old. Fortnightly makes sense for couples, smaller condos, households that eat out most nights, and homes where the main goal is to never spend a Saturday morning mopping.
If you genuinely cannot tell, start fortnightly and watch the fourth day after a session. If the bathroom and the kitchen floor already bother you by then, move to weekly. That is a cheaper experiment than committing to a year of a schedule that does not fit, and switching costs you nothing.
What can a regular housekeeper take over, and what stays a specialist job?
The real value of a regular housekeeper is not the mopping — it is the recurring chores that quietly eat your week. A housekeeper on a schedule can absorb: laundry cycles (loaded, hung, folded, put away), ironing, bed linen changes, fridge interior wipe-downs, bathroom upkeep before it becomes a scrubbing job, and the kitchen reset after a week of cooking. Be aware of what each costs in session time — a full ironing basket can absorb a solid hour, which is an hour not spent on floors.
What stays a separate specialist job is anything needing machines, chemicals or drying time that a maintenance visit cannot carry. Mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet work falls here — see mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet cleaning. Indicative prices: single mattress $105 dry* / $125 wet*, queen $140* / $165*, king $165* / $195*; a 2-seat sofa $205* and a 3-seat $225*; curtains $35 per panel*; rugs from $150*.
Also specialist: whole-home disinfection from $265* (after illness in the household, or before a newborn comes home); washing machine drum servicing at $140-$200* for a top-load and $240-$300* for a front-load; and the one-off project cleans covered earlier — post-renovation and move-in/move-out.
A sensible yearly pattern for a housekeeping household: fabric care (mattress and sofa) once a year, curtains once or twice a year, one deep or spring clean before the festive season, and everything else held by the weekly or fortnightly sessions. If you run a small office as well as a home, our office cleaning works on the same recurring logic, from $350 per month* for an SME unit.
Is housekeeping different for HDB, condo and landed homes?
HDB flats. A 3-room or 4-room flat with one or two bathrooms is the classic 3-hour job. Five-room and executive flats usually need 3 hours weekly or a full 4 hours fortnightly. Corridor-facing windows and service yards add time; open kitchens with daily wok cooking add more, because grease is the single biggest time cost in any Singapore kitchen.
Condominiums. Floor area is often smaller but glass area is larger — balcony doors, full-height windows and glass shower screens all take longer than the equivalent stretch of wall. Access is the other variable: most condos require our cleaner to register at the guardhouse, and some require you to pre-register her name. Tell us your management’s rule at booking and we will handle it. Aircon ledges, external glass and anything beyond the window line stay out of scope for safety reasons, always.
Landed homes. Stairs, three or more bathrooms, and multiple floors mean a 3-hour session is rarely realistic. Four hours is the practical minimum, and larger houses are often better served by two cleaners in one session than by one cleaner for twice as long — the home gets finished in the same visit rather than left half-done. Outdoor areas, gates and porches are quoted separately.
If you want the detail on how scope and pricing shift by property type, we have a dedicated breakdown of cleaning services for HDB, condo and landed homes.
How do you keep the same cleaner assigned to my home?
When you start, we assign one cleaner to your slot and protect that pairing. She is our employee on our payroll, working a fixed route — not a freelancer and not a marketplace worker. Continuity is the entire product; if we cannot hold it, the service is worth much less to you.
We keep a short home notes file for your address: where the mop and vacuum live, which products you want used or refuse to have used, pets and their names, rooms that are off-limits, how you like the bed made, whether shoes come off at the door. That file is what makes month three feel effortless compared to week one.
When your cleaner is on annual leave or MC, you have two options and we will ask rather than assume. We can send a briefed replacement who works from your home notes for that session, or we can skip the session entirely — and a session that does not happen is not charged. Most customers take the replacement for a weekly slot and skip for a fortnightly one.
If the fit simply is not right — pace, thoroughness, communication — ask for a change. There is no argument and no awkwardness; we would rather reassign quietly than lose the household. And our Happiness Guarantee stands behind every session: if you are not happy with the work, we come back and re-clean it free.

How are your cleaners vetted, trained and insured?
Sureclean has been operating since 2013 and has cleaned over 50,000 Singapore homes. We are NEA-licensed and insured, and our rating sits at 4.9 stars across more than 1,507 Google reviews — a number that only holds up when the same cleaners are doing repeat work for the same families, week after week.
Every cleaner is our own trained, vetted staff. That means identity and work-eligibility checks before hiring, reference checks, and structured training on our cleaning SOP — the order of work, correct dilution and pairing of products, what must never be mixed, which surfaces need which cloth, and how to protect stone, timber and delicate finishes. New staff work alongside experienced cleaners before taking their own route.
Insurance matters more than most people realise until something breaks. Because our cleaners are employed by us and we carry insurance, accidental damage in your home is reported to the company and handled by the company — you are not left settling it with an individual worker. Tell us promptly and we deal with it directly.
This is also where the difference between the lowest hourly quote on the market and ours goes. Vetting, structured training, supervision, insurance and the administration of employing staff properly all sit inside the rate you pay. Those costs do not vanish when a household hires privately at a lower rate — they move onto the household, along with the exposure if someone is injured or something is broken. We would rather you knew exactly what the difference buys than be surprised by it later.
How do I stay comfortable letting someone into my home when I am out?
Almost every new customer asks a version of this, and it is a fair question. The strongest answer is structural rather than reassuring words: the same person coming back every week is easier to trust than a different stranger every visit. She is known to us, accountable to us, and building a relationship with your household over months rather than minutes.
For the first session, we recommend you be home for at least the start of it. Walk the cleaner through the flat, show her the storage, point out anything precious or fragile, and agree how access will work from then on. Fifteen minutes on day one prevents months of small misunderstandings.
For access afterwards, a smart lock with a dedicated temporary PIN is the cleanest option — it can be changed at any time and it gives you a log of entry and exit. If you hand over a physical key or an access card, we document the handover. Standard household caution still applies: keep cash, jewellery and passports in a locked drawer rather than on the dresser. That is not distrust of any individual; it is simply how sensible households operate.
You can also ask for a quick photo of the finished kitchen and bathrooms at the end of each session while you are building confidence. Most customers stop asking after a month or two — but it costs nothing and we are happy to keep doing it for as long as you want it.
What do you not charge for, and what happens if I pause or stop?
The question worth asking any cleaning company is what happens at the exit, not just at the entry. So here is exactly how we work. We never retro-bill. If you pause your schedule or stop entirely, we do not go back and re-price the sessions you already had at a higher one-off rate. Sessions you have already paid for stay paid at the rate you agreed. There is no clawback clause, ever.
There is no per-booking platform fee and no weekend surcharge at Sureclean. The session rate you are quoted is the session rate you pay, Saturday or Tuesday, and it does not move because your slot happens to fall on a long weekend.
There is no lock-in contract. Housekeeping runs until you tell us to stop. Pause it for a two-week holiday, drop from weekly to fortnightly, add an extra hour before your in-laws visit — none of it triggers a penalty or a rate change.
The commitment runs the other way. Our Happiness Guarantee means an unsatisfactory session gets re-cleaned free rather than argued about, and our operating hours are 9am to 6pm, seven days a week, with same-day slots available when you book before 11:30 AM.
How do I get started with housekeeping?
Message us on WhatsApp at +65 6983 9523 with five things: your property type and size (for example, 4-room HDB or 3-bedroom condo), the number of bathrooms, whether you have pets or young children, your preferred day and time, and whether you want laundry, ironing or bed changes included. That is enough for us to quote a session rate without a site visit.
We will come back with a recommended session length — 3 hours or 4 hours — and a price per session, plus what that works out to per month so there are no surprises when the standing order lands. If we think 3 hours is not enough for what you have asked for, we will say so upfront rather than under-deliver on visit one.
Some households prefer to test before committing. You can book a single one-off session at $114* for 3 hours or $140* for 4 hours, see how it goes, and convert to a recurring slot afterwards at the lower recurring rate. There is no obligation attached to the trial and no charge for converting.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does housekeeping cost in Singapore?
Sureclean housekeeping starts from $22 per hour*, which is our floor rather than our average — our median hourly rate is $23 and has been drifting toward $24 as scopes grow. In session terms, a weekly 3-hour session is about $72* and a weekly 4-hour session about $88*, while fortnightly sessions run about $66* for 3 hours and $88-$92* for 4 hours. Final pricing depends on home size, condition, number of bathrooms and what you want covered.
Is it cheaper per hour to book weekly instead of fortnightly?
No. Weekly and fortnightly customers pay the same hourly rate at Sureclean — booking more often earns no discount and there is no loyalty tier. Choose your frequency based on how quickly your home actually gets dirty, not on price. A weekly customer spends roughly $286-$400 a month*, a fortnightly customer roughly $143-$200 a month*.
Is a recurring session cheaper than a one-off clean?
Per hour, yes. A one-off or first-trial session is a higher tier at $114* for 3 hours or $140* for 4 hours, because a standalone visit carries its own scheduling, travel and briefing cost. A recurring slot spreads that cost across many visits, so recurring housekeeping works out cheaper per hour than booking one-off sessions repeatedly.
What is the difference between housekeeping and a deep clean?
Housekeeping maintains the surfaces you use daily — floors, bathrooms, kitchen, dusting, bins, laundry — on a fixed weekly or fortnightly schedule. A deep clean is a one-off reset that tackles what maintenance deliberately skips: grout, oven interiors, behind appliances, window tracks, tops of cabinets and kitchen degreasing. Homes with a regular housekeeper typically need a deep or spring clean about once a year instead of every few months.
Will I get the same cleaner every time?
Yes — we assign one cleaner to your slot and protect that pairing, because continuity is the whole point of housekeeping. She is our own trained, vetted and insured employee, not a freelancer or marketplace worker. If she is on leave or MC, we either send a briefed replacement who works from your home notes, or skip that session entirely at no charge, whichever you prefer.
Can a housekeeper do my laundry and ironing?
Yes. Laundry cycles, hanging and folding, ironing, and bed linen changes are all included in housekeeping on request. Just be aware they use time from the same session — a full ironing basket can absorb a solid hour, so a 3-hour visit with heavy laundry leaves less time for floors and bathrooms. We will tell you honestly at quoting stage whether 3 or 4 hours fits your list.
What is not included in a housekeeping session?
Cooking, childcare, elderly care, pet handling and moving heavy furniture are outside the scope of a cleaning service. Exterior window glass, ledges and any work beyond the window line are excluded for safety reasons, always. Specialist jobs — mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet cleaning, whole-home disinfection, washing machine servicing and post-renovation work — are booked separately because they need machines, chemicals and drying time a maintenance visit cannot carry.
Am I locked into a contract, and what happens if I stop?
There is no lock-in contract and no minimum term — housekeeping runs until you tell us to stop. We never retro-bill: if you pause or cancel, we do not go back and re-price your completed sessions at a higher one-off rate, and there is no clawback clause. We also charge no per-booking platform fee and no weekend surcharge.
*All prices shown are “from” prices for guidance only and are subject to change without notice. Final pricing depends on home size, condition, hours and frequency — we confirm an exact written quote on WhatsApp (+65 6983 9523) before any booking is confirmed.
