What does a part time cleaner actually do in a Singapore home?
A part time cleaner is booked by the hour to keep a home in order. This is maintenance cleaning – the weekly or fortnightly reset that stops a home sliding – not a deep clean and not a renovation clear-out. The realistic measure is simple: one trained cleaner covers roughly one full round of an average HDB or condo home in 3 to 4 hours.
In a 3-hour session, expect: one to two bathrooms fully scrubbed (toilet bowl, basin, mirror, shower screen, floor); kitchen counters, hob, sink and the exterior of appliances wiped down; all floors vacuumed and mopped; beds made and linen straightened; surfaces, shelves and electronics dusted; bins emptied and re-lined; and a general tidy of the living and dining area so the home reads as clean, not just cleaned.
A 4-hour session adds the layer most people never get to: interior window panes and grilles, wardrobe and cabinet fronts, skirting boards and door frames, the balcony or service yard, the fridge exterior and handles, plus either one laundry load run and hung or an ironing stack cleared. If you have ever finished a session feeling that the visible surfaces were done but the edges were not, that is the hour that was missing.
An hourly cleaning service is deliberately narrow, and that is what keeps it affordable. What does not fit is the heavy one-time work: ceiling-height grease, post-renovation cement dust, mattress extraction and curtain take-down are separate jobs with different equipment and different chemicals. If that is what your home needs first, our professional spring cleaning service or post-renovation cleaning is the correct starting point, and you move onto a part time cleaning routine after the reset.
What a Sureclean cleaner actually does — task by task
This is the honest, chore-by-chore list for a part-time cleaner session. Anything marked Every session is part of the standard service at no extra charge — you do not pay a surcharge for ironing, laundry or dishes the way many booking platforms do.
| Task | Included? |
|---|---|
| Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping all floors | ✓ Every session |
| Dusting surfaces, shelves, skirting and furniture | ✓ Every session |
| Washing toilets & bathrooms — bowl, sink, shower, mirrors, floor | ✓ Every session |
| Kitchen — countertops, hob, sink and appliance exteriors | ✓ Every session |
| Washing dishes | ✓ Every session |
| Laundry — wash, hang or tumble, and fold | ✓ Every session |
| Ironing | ✓ Every session |
| Changing bedsheets and making the beds | ✓ Every session |
| Emptying bins and replacing liners | ✓ Every session |
| Wiping interior windows, grilles and tracks | ✓ Within safe reach |
| Cleaning ceiling fan blades | ✓ Within safe reach |
| Aircon servicing or chemical wash | ✗ Not part of a housekeeping session |
| Mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet deep cleaning | ✗ Separate specialist services |
| Exterior window facade or any work needing a harness | ✗ Not offered — safety |
| Cooking, childcare, elderly care or pet care | ✗ Not offered — we are a cleaning company |
How much realistically fits in one session
A cleaner works to your priority list. Tell them what matters most on the day and that gets done first — these are the realistic scopes we see across thousands of Singapore homes:
| Session length | Typical home | What comfortably fits |
|---|---|---|
| 3 hours | 2–3 room HDB or 1-bedroom condo | Full floors, both bathrooms, kitchen, dusting, bins — plus one of laundry, ironing or a bedsheet change |
| 4 hours | 4–5 room HDB or 2–3 bedroom condo | Everything above plus laundry and ironing and bedsheets, with time for fans, windows or inside the fridge |
| 5–6 hours | Landed home or larger household | The full list without rushing, including a big ironing pile or several loads of laundry |
Rule of thumb: ironing is the task that eats the most time. A week of shirts for two working adults is roughly 45–60 minutes on its own. If ironing matters most to you, book 4 hours rather than 3 — not because we upsell, but because 3 hours of floors, bathrooms and a full ironing pile genuinely does not fit.
What it costs
| Booking type | Rate |
|---|---|
| Recurring — weekly or fortnightly | from $22/hour*, minimum 3 hours |
| One-off / ad-hoc session | from $114* for 3 hours, $140* for 4 hours |
Weekly and fortnightly are charged at the same hourly rate. Choose based on how quickly your home actually gets dirty, not on price. Recurring is genuinely cheaper per hour than a one-off booking, because we are not scheduling a new team and a new brief every time.
No platform fee, no booking surcharge, and no ironing or laundry surcharge — the hourly rate is the rate.
How much does a part time cleaner cost in Singapore in 2026?
Our part time cleaning services start from $22 per hour*. We want to be precise about what that figure means, because “from” prices get abused in this market. Across our 2026 housekeeping invoices, $22 is the modal rate and the effective floor. The median is $23 per hour, and it has been drifting towards $24 through the middle of the year. So $22 is an honest starting point, not what everybody pays, and we are not going to print it as a typical or average rate when our own book says otherwise.
Translated into whole sessions, which is how you will actually be billed: a weekly 3-hour session is about $72*, a weekly 4-hour session about $88*, and a fortnightly 3-hour session about $66*. Fortnightly 4-hour sessions land between $88 and $92*. The most common recurring session on our book is $88*, and the median recurring session is $78*.
Monthly, a weekly customer generally spends between $286 and $400* depending on hours booked and how many visits fall in the month, with $312* typical at 3 hours a week and $381* typical at 4 hours a week. A fortnightly customer generally spends $143 to $200 a month*. Those are real spend bands from real invoices, not a brochure range.
Every price on this page carries an asterisk because the final quote depends on your home size, condition and location. Nothing here is a bait number: these are the ranges our own invoices actually show. If you want the full picture across every Sureclean service, see our Singapore cleaning prices guide.
Why does a one-off session cost more per hour than a recurring one?
A one-off or first-trial session is a different tier: $114* for 3 hours, which works out to about $38 per hour, or $140* for 4 hours. Both are genuinely higher per hour than recurring work, and there is a reason rather than an excuse.
A first or standalone visit is always harder. The cleaner is walking into an unknown layout, does not know where anything is stored, has no baseline to maintain, and is usually clearing accumulated build-up rather than holding a standard. It also occupies a slot we cannot plan a route around, so scheduling one costs us more than slotting a familiar recurring visit into an existing day.
A recurring session is easier for the same three reasons in reverse: known home, known priorities, known baseline. Your cleaner is not spending twenty minutes finding the mop, working out which cloth goes where, or asking whether the marble counter takes a general spray. That efficiency is the whole basis of the lower recurring rate. Recurring cleaning is cheaper per hour than one-off cleaning – a real, invoice-backed difference, not a marketing frame.
If you are only testing us, book the one-off and judge the work. Many customers do exactly that and convert to a recurring slot afterwards at the lower hourly tier. There is no obligation attached to the trial session either way, and no penalty if you decide once was enough.
How many hours does my home actually need?
Getting the hours right matters more than shaving a dollar off the hourly rate. Under-booking is the single most common reason people feel disappointed with an hourly cleaning service: the cleaner did nothing wrong, there simply was not enough time on the clock to finish the job you pictured.
As a working guide for a maintained home: a 2 to 3 room HDB flat or a studio needs 3 hours. A 4 to 5 room HDB flat or a 2 to 3 bedroom condo needs 3 to 4 hours. A large condo, maisonette or executive flat needs 4 hours. A landed home or anything above roughly 2,000 sq ft needs 4 hours or two cleaners, because floor area and staircases eat the clock faster than bedroom count suggests.
Add an hour if any of these apply: more than two bathrooms, a heavy-cooking kitchen, shedding pets, young children, or a home that has not had a proper clean in more than two months. Subtract nothing for a small home that is genuinely cluttered – clutter costs time, and a cleaner who has to move things before cleaning under them is doing two jobs inside one hour.
A quick self-test before you book: walk the home and count the surfaces you would be embarrassed to have a guest run a finger along. If that list runs past a dozen, book 4 hours for the first few sessions and step down to 3 once the baseline is set. Stepping down is easy. Explaining why a 3-hour session did not cover a 5-hour home is not.
Not sure which bracket you sit in? Our page on cleaning for HDB, condo and landed homes breaks it down by property type, or just WhatsApp us your floor plan and we will tell you the honest number of hours rather than the biggest one.
| Session type | Hours | What it covers | From price* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly recurring | 3 hours | Bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, all floors vacuumed and mopped, beds, dusting, bins | from $72* |
| Weekly recurring | 4 hours | Everything in the 3-hour scope plus interior windows, cabinet fronts, skirting, balcony, one laundry or ironing load | from $88* |
| Fortnightly recurring | 3 hours | Same maintenance scope, sized for smaller or lighter-use homes | from $66* |
| Fortnightly recurring | 4 hours | Full maintenance scope plus extras; the usual choice for larger homes on a 2-week cycle | $88-$92* |
| One-off / first trial session | 3 hours | Same 3-hour scope in an unfamiliar home with accumulated build-up | $114* (about $38/hour) |
| One-off / first trial session | 4 hours | Same 4-hour scope, standalone booking, no commitment | $140* |
| Monthly spend – weekly, 3 hours | 12-13 hours/month | About 4.3 sessions a month at the same hourly rate | about $312/month* |
| Monthly spend – weekly, 4 hours | 16-17 hours/month | About 4.3 sessions a month at the same hourly rate | about $381/month* |
| Monthly spend – fortnightly | 6-8 hours/month | About 2.2 sessions a month at the same hourly rate | $143-$200/month* |
Should I book weekly or fortnightly?
Here is the part most companies will not say plainly: weekly and fortnightly customers pay the same hourly rate. Booking more often does not unlock a loyalty discount, a frequency discount or a cheaper hour with us, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to push you into a bigger commitment.
So choose on how fast your home actually gets dirty, not on price. Weekly suits homes with young children, pets, daily home cooking, allergy sensitivities, or anyone who wants the place to never visibly slip. Fortnightly suits couples, working professionals out of the house all day, smaller flats, and people who do light upkeep themselves between visits.
The practical test: if your bathroom shows water marks and your kitchen shows grease within six or seven days, weekly is the right call. If it takes closer to two weeks, fortnightly is genuinely enough and you gain nothing by paying for the extra visits.
Frequency does change what fits inside the session. Weekly visits stay ahead of build-up, so more of the hour goes to detail work. Fortnightly visits spend more of the hour catching up, which is fine – just book 4 hours instead of 3 if your home is on the larger side. If you want a set weekly routine with a fixed scope, look at general weekly home cleaning.
Are your part time cleaners employees or freelancers?
Every Sureclean cleaner is our own employed staff – trained by us, background-vetted, insured, and supervised by a real operations team. We are not a marketplace and not an agency handing you a phone number: the person who arrives at your door works for the company you booked.
That decides what happens when something goes wrong. If a breakage, a no-show or a below-standard clean happens on our watch, it is ours to fix – accountability sits with the company, not with an individual you have to chase. We are NEA-licensed and insured, operating since 2013, and that licence and cover exist precisely so you are not carrying the risk of having someone work inside your home.
It also decides consistency. Our cleaners are trained on the same method and the same checklist, so the standard does not swing based on who turns up. Your home profile – your priorities, your no-go zones, your product preferences – lives in our system, not in one person’s head.
There is a legal dimension too. Engaging a licensed cleaning company means the employment obligations that come with domestic cleaning work sit with us as the employer rather than with you as the householder. Rules on employing people to work in a home in Singapore are set by the Ministry of Manpower, and MOM is the authority to check if you are unsure where you stand. To be clear about our own model: we provide residential cleaning in Singapore using our own staff, and we do not place or transfer domestic helpers.
The result shows up in the reviews: 4.9 stars across 1,512+ Google reviews and more than 50,000 Singapore homes cleaned. And every session is covered by our Happiness Guarantee – if you are not happy with the clean, we come back and re-clean it free.
What fees are you not going to add to my bill?
Feeling overcharged in this category rarely starts with the headline rate. It starts with what gets added afterwards. So here is what we do not charge, stated about us only.
No platform or booking fee. The session price is the session price. You are not paying a percentage on top for the privilege of booking, and there is no admin line on your invoice.
No weekend or public holiday surcharge. A Saturday session costs the same as a Tuesday session. We operate 7 days a week and we price all seven the same.
No retro-billing and no clawback if you pause or stop. This one matters. If you have been booking recurring sessions and you decide to pause, reduce frequency or stop entirely, we will never go back and re-bill your completed sessions at a higher rate. Every past session stays at the price you were quoted, permanently.
No lock-in contract. Recurring cleaning with us is a standing arrangement, not a bound term. We ask for 24 hours notice on a skipped session so we can release the slot to someone else, and that is the whole of it.
Who provides the cleaning supplies and equipment?
For regular part time cleaning, you provide the supplies and equipment and they stay in your home. At minimum that means a working vacuum, a mop and bucket, microfibre cloths, a toilet brush, and your household detergents: bathroom cleaner, kitchen degreaser, floor cleaner, glass cleaner.
This is deliberate, and it works in your favour. You control exactly what touches your floors, your counters and your children’s rooms. Nothing arrives smelling of a chemical you did not choose, and there is no cross-contamination of cloths or solutions between homes. If you want fragrance-free, pet-safe, baby-safe or specific brands, buy those and that is all our cleaner will use.
Tell us at booking if your home has materials that need care – marble, unsealed timber, terrazzo, natural stone or a delicate feature wall. Our cleaner will work to that and will not experiment on your surfaces. And if your vacuum is broken or your mop head is finished, tell us before the session, not during it.
Specialist work is the exception and comes with our own professional machines and solutions: mattress, sofa, curtain and carpet cleaning (mattress from $105*, 2-seat sofa $205*, curtains $35 per panel*) and disinfection services from $265*. Those cannot be done with household products and we never pretend otherwise.
How do you handle keys, access and security?
Most of our recurring customers are not home during the session, which is exactly the point of hiring help. There are three ways we handle access, and you pick the one you are comfortable with.
You are home for the first session and let the cleaner in each visit thereafter. Simplest option, and the one we suggest for the first few weeks while the routine settles. Digital access works well for condos and newer flats – you provide a door code or a temporary guest code that you can change whenever you want. Key handover is available where a physical key is the only option, with the handover recorded by our office and the key logged, not floating around in someone’s bag.
Every cleaner is background-vetted before employment and insured while working. Attendance is logged, so we know precisely who was in your home and when, and that record exists whether or not you ever need it.
Condo residents: give us your block, unit and any management office requirement at booking. Some estates need visitor pre-registration or a contractor pass, and we would rather sort that out a day early than have your cleaner stuck at the guardhouse burning an hour you paid for.

What happens if my regular cleaner is sick or on leave?
People get sick and people take leave. The question worth asking any domestic cleaner in Singapore before you commit is what happens to your session when that occurs.
Our answer is replacement cover. If your regular cleaner cannot make a session, we send another trained cleaner for that visit and we tell you in advance who is coming. You do not lose the slot and you are not left rearranging your week at short notice.
The cover cleaner is not walking in blind. Your home profile – layout notes, priority areas, product preferences, the things you have asked for – travels with the booking, so you do not have to re-explain your home to someone new at the door.
Your regular cleaner returns on the next scheduled visit. And if a session genuinely cannot be covered on your usual day, we offer you an alternative slot rather than quietly skipping it. You are never billed for a session that did not happen.
What is outside a part time cleaner’s scope?
An hourly domestic cleaner is not an unlimited resource, and setting expectations up front prevents the disappointment that ruins otherwise good service. Some things simply need different equipment, different chemicals or a different number of people.
Outside scope for hourly sessions: exterior window cleaning at height, aircon servicing and chemical wash, pest control, moving heavy furniture alone, deep grout restoration, ceiling and high-level work requiring ladders, and full-home decluttering. A cleaner will also not handle biohazard situations.
Some of these are jobs we do – just not by the hour. Empty-property work is priced as move-in / move-out cleaning from $370*. Construction dust and paint residue is post-renovation cleaning from $370*. A full top-to-bottom reset is spring cleaning from $600*. Business premises sit under office cleaning from $350 a month*.
If what you actually need is someone in your home for long hours across cooking, childcare and eldercare, a part time helper cleaning arrangement is the wrong tool entirely – that is a live-in or long-hours helper arrangement, and our page on the difference between a part time maid and a part time cleaner explains where the line sits.
How do I book a part time cleaner, and what happens next?
WhatsApp +65 6983 9523 with four things: your property type and size, your postal district, your preferred day and time window, and whether you want weekly, fortnightly or a one-off. That is enough for us to quote you properly instead of quoting you vaguely.
We come back with an honest hours recommendation and a session price. If we think 3 hours is enough for your flat, we will say 3 hours – we would rather you book the right size and stay for two years than book too much and leave in a month.
Once you confirm, we assign a cleaner and send you the details before the first visit. Book before 11:30 AM and we can often get someone to you the same day, subject to available slots. Our office runs 9am to 6pm, 7 days a week.
After the first session, tell us what to adjust. Most homes need one round of fine-tuning – more time in the kitchen, less on the balcony, a different product on the floors – and after that the routine settles and you stop thinking about it. If a session ever falls short, say so and we will re-clean it free under our Happiness Guarantee. More answers are in our Singapore cleaning services FAQ.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a part time cleaner cost in Singapore?
Sureclean part time cleaning starts from $22 per hour*, and across our 2026 invoices the median works out closer to $23 per hour. A weekly 3-hour session is about $72* and a weekly 4-hour session about $88*. A one-off session is priced higher per hour: $114* for 3 hours and $140* for 4 hours.
What is the minimum booking for a part time cleaning service?
Our minimum session is 3 hours. Anything shorter does not give a cleaner enough time to do a full round of a Singapore home properly, so we would rather turn the job down than leave half of it undone. Most HDB and condo homes book either 3 or 4 hours per session.
Is weekly cheaper per hour than fortnightly?
No. Weekly and fortnightly customers pay the same hourly rate at Sureclean, so booking more often buys no discount. Choose your frequency based on how fast your home actually gets dirty, not on price. Recurring sessions are cheaper per hour than one-off sessions, but weekly and fortnightly are priced the same.
What does a part time cleaner do in a 3-hour session?
A 3-hour session covers the maintenance loop: one to two bathrooms scrubbed, the kitchen counters, hob and sink cleaned, all floors vacuumed and mopped, beds made, surfaces dusted and bins cleared. A 4-hour session adds the extras: interior windows, wardrobe fronts, skirting, balcony, and either a laundry load or ironing. Heavy one-time work such as post-renovation dust or full spring cleaning is a separate service.
Are your part time cleaners freelancers or your own staff?
They are our own employed staff: trained, background-vetted, insured and supervised. Sureclean is NEA-licensed and insured and has been operating since 2013, so accountability for the work sits with the company rather than with an individual. We provide residential cleaning through our own cleaners; we do not place or transfer domestic helpers.
Do I need to provide cleaning supplies and equipment?
Yes for regular part time cleaning: you provide a working vacuum, mop, bucket, cloths and your preferred household detergents, because supplies stay in your home between sessions and you control what touches your surfaces. Tell us if you want fragrance-free, pet-safe or baby-safe products and we will use only what you supply. Specialist jobs such as mattress, sofa and curtain cleaning or disinfection come with our own machines and solutions.
What happens if my regular cleaner is sick or on leave?
We send a trained replacement for that session and tell you in advance who is coming. Your session notes and home profile travel with the booking, so the cover cleaner knows your priorities without you re-explaining them. Your regular cleaner returns on the next scheduled visit, and you are never billed for a session that did not happen.
Can I pause or stop my recurring cleaning without a penalty?
Yes. You can pause, reschedule or stop your recurring part time cleaning at any time, and we will never go back and re-bill your completed sessions at a higher rate. Every past session stays at the price you were quoted. We ask for 24 hours notice on a skipped session so we can offer the slot to someone else.
*All prices shown are “from” prices for guidance only and are subject to change without notice. Final pricing depends on home size, condition, hours and frequency — we confirm an exact written quote on WhatsApp (+65 6983 9523) before any booking is confirmed.
